Pavey and Mathews v Paul (1987) 162 CLR 221

In this case, a man agreed to renovate a woman’s house.  He completed the work but the woman refused to pay part of the agreed price.  The contract between the parties was not written and was based on an oral agreement.  The Builders Licensing Act stated that a contract was not enforceable under the Act if it was not in writing.
