Peterswald v Bartley (1904) 1 CLR 497
This is an early case which considered the duties of excise power of the Commonwealth and whether or not the Liquor Act of 1898 in New South Wales amounted to a license fee or a duty of excise and whether this breached section 90 of the Constitution.
