Murphyores Inc Pty Ltd v Commonwealth (1976) 136 CLR 1

This case considered the validity of the Customs Act 1901 and whether this was a valid exercise of the trade and commerce power in s.51(i).  Murphyores argued that it was not a valid exercise of power since it affected an environmental issue which was outside the powers of Commonwealth and the Commonwealth argued that it was a valid use of the power since it affected the export of goods overseas.
